Context:
Barstool’s new betting tie-up comes after it was sold by Penn Entertainment back to its founder Dave Portnoy for US$1 in August 2023.
As part of the sale, Barstool was restricted from entering any new betting partnerships before the end of the current National Football League (NFL) season. Its new deal with DraftKings, which the company had previously collaborated with, was publicly confirmed moments after Super Bowl LVIII.
