Barstool Sports and Fox Sports continue to be in talks for talent like Dave Portnoy or Dan “Big Cat” Katz to appear on “Big Noon Kickoff,” but no final decisions have been made, and no decisions have been made as to Barstool talent appearing on FS1 shows, a source close to the situation tells SBJ. Fox Sports is continuing to develop a new FS1 programming lineup that would lead into “The Herd” at noon ET. The development comes just after Fox Sports this week pulled the plug on three shows – “Speak,” “Breakfast Ball” and The Facility” (Austin Karp, SBJ).
Signing on Portnoy and Barstool Sports would “certainly be targeted toward the 18-to-34 demographic,” with which Portnoy and Barstool’s content has “done well with over the years.” Fox is “betting on Portnoy to bring eyeballs to compete with College GameDay.” Front Office Sports was first to report the deal (SI, 7/16).
